Father Matt Browne joins St. Joseph’s Parish as a resident. He continues to be involved with the diocesan Office of Education, where he has been instrumental in shaping faith-based learning and outreach programs. His passion for education and spiritual enrichment will be an incredible gift to our community. He is a native Long Islander, born in Queens but raised in Valley Stream, NY. Being the oldest of three children, raised in a Catholic family. As a parishioner of Holy Name of Mary his entire life, he was involved in different ministries from a young age.
Father Matt is a proud graduate of Kellenberg Memorial High School (2011), and in his preparation for priesthood, he earned a B.A. in Philosophy from St. John’s University, and a Baccalaureate in Sacred Theology from Catholic University of America, to be ordained in June of 2019. After his further theological studies at CUA, focused on Ecclesiology, Fr. Matt was assigned as the Associate Pastor of the Church of Saint Dominic in Oyster Bay, and now serves the Diocese of Rockville Centre as the Bishop’s Delegate to the Department of Education and as the Director of the Office of Evangelization and Catechesis. Over the last three years, he has resided at Saint Agnes Cathedral in Rockville Centre, where he was actively involved in pastoral ministry.
