What is Reconciliation?
The Sacrament of Reconciliation
Reconciliation is the sacrament of God’s forgiveness and peace. In this sacrament we express our sorrow for our sins and promise that we will try to become better people. Sometimes you will hear people use the expression “confession” or “penance” for the sacrament of Reconciliation - both are acceptable and are part of the sacrament.
Whenever people sin, they separate themselves from God’s love. We sin when we refuse to accept God’s love. When we deliberately do something that hurts others or ourselves, we commit a sin. Sin can also be anything good that you refuse to do for yourself or others. In the sacrament of Reconciliation we return to God, our loving parent.
2025-2026 Dates
Celebrations of the Sacrament of Reconciliation will occur on January 24th and 31st. Please refer to the information included in your Penance folder for your child’s specific date and time.

Our Father
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name;

Hail Mary
Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with you.
Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death. Amen.

O my God, I am sorry for my sins.
In choosing to sin, and failing to do good,
I have sinned against You and Your Church
I firmly intend, with the help of Your Son,
to make up for my sins and to love as I should.
