We continue to try to move ahead to restore liturgical practices that were deferred because of Covid.
We have resumed the presentation of the gifts of bread and wine at the offertory.
Beginning this weekend, we will restore the “Sign of Peace” at Mass. Following the greeting, “May the Peace of the Lord be with you always” and the congregation’s response, the invitation will be extended, “Let us offer each other the Sign of Peace.” Actual handshakes outside of family groups might still make some uncomfortable, so we recommend congregants turn to others with a nod of the head or with a wave of the hand, to wish one another “Peace be with you.” The wish of peace to others is what is important, not the specific form.
The ministers of Holy Communion will continue to sanitize their hands and wear masks for the distribution of the Eucharist. We ask Extraordinary Ministers, as they feel more comfortable, to contact Deacon Jack McKenna to make themselves available to assist at Sunday liturgies and to be put on the schedule.
Beginning on the First Sunday of Advent, November 28, 2021, we will resume use of missalettes and music editions in the pews.
We hope to continue on the road back, out of the Covid restrictions. We thank all for your patience during these uncertain times.
