A MAN FOR ALL SEASONS

This award-winning film relates the compelling story of Sir (later St.) Thomas More, whose courage and conviction, and steadfast compliance with his conscience, cost him his life. Thomas was a trusted confidant of Henry VIII and Chancellor of the Realm, but he could not, in good conscience, approve of Henry’s plan to divorce his queen and marry Anne Boleyn. Thomas was therefore tried and convicted of treason, and executed. The movie, starring Paul Scofield as St. Thomas, with a cast including Orson Welles, Susannah York and Robert Shaw, won 6 Academy Awards in 1966, including Best Picture
(for a movie about a saint, imagine that!)
