Adult Choir
Choir serves to assist the assembly in prayer through song at Mass and other special liturgies throughout the year. Raise your voice in song at the 10:30 am Mass and other various liturgies. An audition is given to place each new member to the best advantage of the choir. Ability to read music is a plus but not a requirement.The Choir supports the singing of the assembly in hymns, acclamations, and psalms as well as singing sacred works of diverse styles.

Adult Faith Formation
The Adult Faith Formation Ministry seeks to serve by offering opportunities to nourish and enrich the faith of the parishioners. Guest speakers, courses, prayer experiences, a yearly mission, movies and discussions are among the activities provided on a regular basis. The Adult Faith Formation Board meets monthly to research and plan for these events.

Adult Funeral Servers
This is a team of men and women who serve at our funeral Masses. We will telephone you to find out if you are available to serve. No prior experience is needed. We will provide training and a written description of your duties.

Altar Servers
Altar Servers assist at Mass and other liturgical celebrations to help promote a prayerful, inviting gathering of worshipers. Young persons who serve are in grades 4 and above and need the ability to assist various liturgical ministers prayerfully and reverently. Responsibilities include thurifer (incense), cross and candle bearers and assisting with the Roman Missal, wine and water. Servers are scheduled throughout the year at Sunday Mass and other liturgies.

CYO Basketball Program
The primary goal of St. Joe’s CYO is to provide an opportunity for boys and girls of the parish in grades 4 through 12 to play basketball in an environment that is conducive to all levels of proficiency. One of the key tenets of the program was to allow any boy or girl in the parish and of every skill level the opportunity to play basketball in a supportive and enthusiastic environment. In this day of travel basketball, AAU, and competitive school teams, the St. Joe’s CYO program allows every parish boy or girl the opportunity to play right through high school.
The high level of participation at both the Tyro and Senior levels is a testament to the goals of the program as it provides boys and girls at the high school level a healthy and fun activity. The program and its philosophy is reflective of the dedication of men and women of the parish who have been involved with CYO over the years as coaches and coordinators. Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion
Ministers assist the priests and deacons in the distribution of Holy Communion (bread and cup) to the faithful who gather to give worship and praise to God at Sunday Mass and weekly liturgies. Many ministers feel they are "unworthy" to serve, yet they are people with a love of the Eucharist, a faithful spirit of generosity and readiness to commit themselves to this liturgical ministry. Formal training and the mandate of the bishop are required, as well as ongoing training.

Finance Committee
The Finance committee provides the pastor with recommendations and advice concerning the parish's fiscal situation. The committee helps the pastor to make decisions about the stewardship of treasure that will best serve the needs of God's people. Parishioners who are interested should speak to the pastor.

St. Joseph-Bishop Baldwin Council # 15809
The Knights of Columbus, founded in 1882, is an international, fraternal organization, with more than 1.8 million members. Our mission is to do good works, consistent with our four core principles: Charity, Unity, Fraternity and Patriotism.
We have named this council, to honor our patron saint, St. Joseph as well as our former pastor, Bishop Vincent J. Baldwin, the first Auxiliary Bishop of the Diocese of Rockville Centre. We formed this new council in March of this year, and have already grown to over 80 members! We are looking to continue the growth of this council as well as a network of adult Catholic men who wish to support the needs of our parish community.

Ministry of Consolation
The Consolation Ministry has the task of assisting parishioners at the time of the death of a loved one. Participants represent the concern of the larger community by being present at the wake service, helping to plan the funeral liturgy, and accompanying the family throughout the funeral.

Nocturnal Adoration Society

Parish Party Committee
Supports a tradition established over 50 years ago as both a fundraiser as well as a social event. The committee plans this event to include music, an enjoyable atmosphere, a delightful dinner and a chance to meet new friends.

Parish Social Ministry
Parish Social Ministry at St. Joseph’s is a Ministry of Caring. We embody the words of dismissal at Mass, “Go in peace to love and serve the Lord with joy” by providing compassionate assistance to those in spiritual or material need.
Monthly food drives benefit the parishes of Our Lady of Loretto and the Queen of the Most Holy Rosary.
Thanksgiving and Christmas Sponsor-a-Family programs provide holiday dinners to Our Lady of Loretto and the Queen of the Most Holy Rosary Outreach families.
Annual school supplies collection and The Giving Tree project at Christmas benefit the Outreach families at Our Lady of Loretto parish.
Ministry of Consolation – volunteers assist families with the funeral liturgies of their loved ones.
Bereavement support services include Month’s Mind Mass, bereavement booklets sent to grieving families, referrals to bereavement counseling groups and the Liturgy of Remembrance on All Souls Day.
Extraordinary Ministers of the Eucharist visit the homebound.
Christmas and Easter plants are delivered to the homebound and to the recently widowed.
Annual Parish Lenten Project supports a local, national or international need.
Annual 9/11 Liturgy to remember parishioners and loved ones who died on that day.
Assistance and advocacy services to individuals and families in need.
Information and referral to community resources.

Pastoral Council
The Pastoral Council is an advisory group to the pastor that serves as a liaison between parishioners and the pastoral staff.
Members serve by appointment of the pastor for a three year term. Parishioners who are interested should speak to the pastor.

Respect Life Ministry
Help Save Babies’ Lives By Prayer & Fasting
St. Joseph parishioners and clergy have been gathering for weekly One‐Hour Prayer Vigils at Planned Parenthood in Hempstead on Fridays since 2015.
Thank you to all who pray the Rosary and Divine Mercy Chaplet for the babies in danger of abortion each Friday from 11 AM to noon at Planned Parenthood's abortion business - 540 Fulton Avenue Hempstead.

St. Joseph Parent-Teacher Association (PTA)
The school PTA is an active and involved component of the school. The PTA raises funds for the school through the many activities it sponsors. In addition, educational fun activities are woven into the curriculum.

Stewardship & Family Ministry
The Stewardship Committee promotes the spirituality of Stewardship by planning parish events, promoting stewardship efforts of time, talent, and treasure. Members are familiar with the principles of parish stewardship and committed to stewardship as a way of life so that they are willing to publicize stewardship, prepare mailings, conduct telephone campaigns and recruit members for the various parish ministries.The Committee meets several times a year.

Ushers
Ushers, "ministers of hospitality" welcome all those who come for Mass and gather as a community to give Glory and Praise to God. Members are outgoing and welcoming, ready to greet parishioners in the gathering area, assist in finding seats, help with the collection and the gifts at the presentation of the gifts, assure an orderly communion procession, and respond to the special needs of parishioners. Most ushers are part of a a regular "team" at a particular Sunday Mass. They are also ready to help at larger parish celebrations, including Christmas and Easter.
